Armory

Among the buildings that can be built within the city walls is the armory. It has one mission, to allow you to craft clothing and accessories for your officers to wear. These items bring with them some potent buffs, increases in strengths, shortened times, etc.

The items that you craft are constructed with objects that could be found in the wreckage of a zombie war. Every officer has eight slots in which a crafted item can fit. The four left most slots are for clothing while the four right most slots are for accessories. The slot displays either its current item. The eighth slot is unavailable through at least a level 17 armory.

The first four slots, on the left, are for a personal weapon, head gear, a coat and footwear. As you begin, you should have a pistol available for the first weapon for your officer. As you add it, you will see the buffs that it brings with it.

The armory can be upleveled just like most other buildings. As that happens, you gain the ability to craft items for additional types of suits. You begin with Trailblazer, and then add General, proceeding onward as the building’s level permits.

To craft items, you must obtain materials. One way to do that is through the armory, which will allow you to gain them over a varying period of time. Another way is to earn various materials crates or packages as rewards. Using one of them provides the armory with materials.

Each crafted item requires certain materials and they do not overlap from suit to suit. A material used to craft a Trailblazer item cannot be used to craft a General’s item. Items begin by requiring four materials in order to be crafted. They may need four different materials, or two of one kind and then one of each of two others. There is a slot for a fifth material which I have not begun using yet.

These items also require fusion cores, green cubes, as part of the crafting process. The number needed goes up as the level of the item and its type of suit does. They are obtained as rewards, and are often part of the winnings when you defeat a level 7 or level 9 zombie.

If you do not have enough cubes when trying to craft an item, the game will allow you to purchase enough with diamonds.

The depot tab will show you what materials you have on hand, and alternately, which items you have crafted. The colors behind each material and crafted item are an indicator of its level. Four of the same level material can be combined to make one material of the next level. A yellow up arrow will show you which materials are ready to be combined. Click on it and select combine all for the best result.

Trailblazer suit items enhance your ability to gather resources. The General’s items enhance training speed and reduce training costs. Guardian items are defensive enhancements while marauder items are offensive buffs. If the officer is wearing three or more items from the same suit, there are added buffs.

These buffs apply when you assign the offer to an army for service in the field. In addition, many of the buildings have a camp tab. This allows you to assign an officer to the efforts of that building. If you are going to train warriors, you may want an officer in camp with items from the General’s suit. At your wall, that camp should have an officer with Guardian suit items.

If you only have one officer, you will need to make a decision. With seven open slots, you could eventually fill them with items from seven differing suits. Or, you could fill them with seven from the same suit. Or, and this is an attractive alternative, four from one and three from another. (That way, you get the buff for three items and the buff for four items from the two different suits.) (Think a combination Guardian and Marauder if you will be doing a lot of combat.)

Rewards Part One

There are many ways to obtain rewards in the game, and many types of rewards to obtain. Here is a list of some of them:

  1. Helicopter

At level seven, the helicopter on the right of the city screen becomes available. By clicking on it, you are offered some selection. Select one and the helicopter will go out and recover those resources. You will be notified in the game when the helicopter returns. There is no cost to you.

You can obtain a different list of selections through one daily free resort or through paying diamonds. You are allowed ten recoveries a day and the game will tell you when you are too “tired” to continue. Each recovery takes a varied amount of time, and the types and amounts of resources recovered will increase as your city level increases.

  2. Quests

Quests will reward you upon completion. Clicking on the icon brings up a list of things to do in or around your city. Each quest shows the rewards that you receive upon completion. You obtain those rewards by returning to the Quest menu and clicking on the “complete” button.

Quests increase in complexity as your various building, troop, plot and city levels increase. At the beginning of the game, you may complete quests very rapidly, without knowing, so it is always good to check the list frequently.

  3. Achievements

The achievements button appears when you click on your avatar. These, when completed, reward you with diamonds. They increase in difficulty in a similar way to Quests. A completed achievement displays a “Reward” button that you click.

The achievement points are cumulative. Once you reach a reward, the points remain and are the basis for the next level of that achievement. For example, after you heal x number of troops and collect the diamonds, that number remains as part of the work toward a higher level of healed troops and another reward.

  4. Alliance Wages

By accessing the Alliance tab, or through a constructed embassy, you can see the wages that you may obtain daily by belonging to an alliance.

There are three types. The first is Attendance. By playing, you earn the first level of this wage every day. As your alliance grows, as more members play in that day, two added levels are available to all members. The reward is diamonds.

Passing over Active for now, we look at contributions. There are two levels. You earn this reward by contributing resources to the study of Alliance Technology, also found under the Alliance tab. In theory, if you never slept, you could contribute to technology six times a day. However, the reward only recognizes reaching two levels.

The Active rewards are those tasks that you will likely perform every day in and around your city. You may farm for resources in the local area, study new technologies, train troops or share resources or troops with other members of the Alliance. Try to do each of the items daily to maximize your rewards. Some, however, may not be possible on a daily basis.

As you succeed with the various tasks, your points increase. A briefcase is lit for every point level that you reach. Click on it to receive the rewards.

  5. Briefcase / Speaker

At the entrance to the walled area of your city is a set of speakers. When rewards are available, a briefcase appears overhead. The speakers produce rewards at timed intervals and the time remaining for a reward to appear displays in the lower right of your screen.

Once a day, the times become short and if you are playing the game, you will find rewards appear rapidly. Then the time between rewards begins to lengthen. Click on the briefcase or the timer to obtain the reward.

Buffs

A buff is a change to one or more of the normal parameters controlling game play. A buff can, for example, increase your troops’ attack strength by 20 percent for 12 hours. Another can prevent your city from being scouted for a length of time.

Some buffs are found as rewards in the game while others must be purchased using diamonds in the game store. That tab is found under the briefcase icon in the bottom left center. Some buffs can also be stocked in the alliance store.

Buffs generally expire. Skills and researched technology, however, do not.

VIP

The VIP icon appears in the upper left of the screen, next to the commander. If it is active, it will appear in full color. If not, it appears gray.

VIP has ten ranks at this time. Each rank provides more benefits to the city. For example, the length of time required for constructing a building is reduced as the VIP rank increases. The ability to field an additional army is a benefit at rank 8.

VIP points can be obtained through combat with zombies in the local area view. They are also awarded for completing certain activities. The points can also be purchased with diamonds. As the points accumulate, your VIP rank increases.

The effects of VIP rank are limited in time. The most common way to obtain time for VIP is to complete one of the levels in an activity. Reaching the first waypoint of an activity will result in you receiving a message containing the reward for that success. A one day extension for VIP can be one of those rewards.

VIP time can also be bought with diamonds.
