Hurricane Post

From Southern Maryland, my brother wrotes:
It's 12:30 and we just got back from lunch at the local diner. Lot's of big, burley men with meal vouchers from XXXXXXX eating steak. These are the "rent-a-linemen". I had the meatloaf special. Constant rain now. Fairly calm but with occasion wind gusts of ...oh...30 mph. They've brought in a couple of catering trucks to feed the aforementioned big, burley men here at HQ. Dominion Power has brought in 7000 extra linemen. As of 11:30, they had 240,000 without power. I don't know how many we have out and I'm afraid to ask the ops guys. They're running around with fire coming out of their eyes. I don't think they have time for us IT dweebs unless the network goes down. It took some doing but our network vendor finally got the message that we wanted 24/7 coverage and the "24" was the hours, not the "7". So we'll have a lot of grumpy network guys here along with the big, burley men. Talked one of the secretaries out of a XXXXXXX hat so I can look cool, too. Have been able to get the bitchin orange panchos, yet. Stay tuned......
