Snow

Let's talk snow. Not the dusting of white stuff that turns a Christmas morning into a fairy tale setting. No, I mean SNOW!

Like 100 inches of snow so far this year, only half way through the winter. I mean the stuff that makes my driveway narrower and narrower as I concede the fringes to the every growing mountains of white.

Whoever said snowblowers were a labor saving device never had to push one uphill, over and over, to clear a driveway. And I do mean over and over.

Even the young men have run out of steam. I could always count on young, money hungry teenage boys to take up the slack when my desire to battle the SNOW enemy died. It's what teenaged boys do, until they, too, are men and can employ teenaged boys to work for them. Well, no boys in sight. Worn out? Overworked? Who knows?

We're half way through winter here in this little bit of heaven, and have exceeded the average yearly snowfall. Last year at this time we had received 15 inches of God's blessing. Now, over 100. Everything is white and cold and wet. My old bones aches all the time. The trucks are filthy with salt spray but you can't wash them because it's too cold. All I can do is sit and dream of Corpus Christi.
